Biography

Lory Zakarian, LL.B., J.D., is a passionate and competent criminal and penal lawyer. Since March 2020, she has been practicing at El-Haddad lawyers, where she uses her skills in negotiation and criminal law. At the same time, since June 2019, she has been running her own firm as a sole practitioner, offering criminal defence services to her clients. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Zakarian gained valuable experience as an articling student at Montreal Lawyers from December 2018 to June 2019 and as a clerk at the Quebec Court of Appeal from September 2018 to December 2018 in Montreal.

Ms. Zakarian’s academic background is equally impressive. She received a law degree from the École du Barreau du Québec in 2016, and she also holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Common Law Studies and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the Université de Sherbrooke, obtained between 2015-2016 and 2013-2016, respectively. Prior to her university studies, she completed a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in Social Sciences, Business Profile, at Marianopolis College from 2011 to 2013, where she actively participated in various associations and activities, including as an executive member of the Marianopolis Armenian Students’ Association (ASA).

In addition to her professional commitment, Ms. Zakarian has been involved in volunteer activities, notably as a leader in the Homenetmen Regional September 2012 to June 2020, and Legal Information Centre from September 2015 to May 2016, where she helped write legal information pamphlets and popularize legal information for students. These experiences have allowed Mr. Zakarian to develop strong skills in customer service, teamwork and public speaking, skills that are often recognized and recommended by his peers.

In sum, Ms. Zakarian is a dedicated and versatile lawyer, fluent in several languages, including Armenian, English and French, and committed to causes such as children’s rights, civil rights and social action, the environment and politics.
